LETTER OF AGREEMENT

THIS AGREEMENT is entered into by and between Northwest Airlines, Inc., a Minnesota
Corporation (the "Employer"), and the Flight Attendants in the service of Northwest
Airlines, Inc., as represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (the

The undersigned parties agree as follows:

Section 9.C.1.e. of this Agreement indicates that in order to be eligible for Purser
qualification training, a Flight Attendant must have a record free from any formal discipline
related to job performance, conduct, safety, or dependability and a satisfactory record of
attendance. Under the Company's current Performance Development program, and for

following, at the time the qualification review process commences, will not be considered
eligible:

1. In the categories of Performance, Conduct, Safety or Dependability, a Flight
Attendant under any current formal discipline, i.e., a Level I, Level II, Decision
Making Leave or Last Chance Agreement, or,

2. In the category of Attendance, a Flight Attendant with a Level II, Decision Making
Leave or a Last Chance Agreement.

If the "Employer" modifies the existing Performance Development Program, it will meet
and confer with the "Union" to determine the appropriate application to the eligibility
requirements for the Purser Position.
Agreed to on this 1st day of June, 2000.
