    Subject: Interpreter Duties - International Flights
    Reference: Section 1 - Recognition

    LETTER OF AGREEMENT
    between
    NORTHWEST AIRLINES, INC.
    and
    FLIGHT ATTENDANTS
    in the service of
    NORTHWEST AIRLINES, INC.
    as represented by
    INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF TEAMSTERS


    THIS AGREEMENT is entered into by and between Northwest Airlines, Inc., a Minnesota
    Corporation (the "Employer"), and the Flight Attendants in the service of Northwest
    Airlines, Inc., as represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (the
    "Union").

    THIS AGREEMENT is intended to define the scope and duties of Interpreters. The
    Interpreters shall be under the direction of the Purser in accordance with Section 2.AAA
    [2.MMM.].

    Interpreter Staffing and Duties

    1. The Company may assign interpreters to any international flight.

    2. Purser and Flight Attendant staffing shall not be reduced as a result of the use of
    Interpreters.

    3. The Company shall determine the number of Interpreters based on market and
    type of aircraft.

    4. Interpreters shall work under the direction of the Purser/Lead Flight Attendant.
    5. Interpreters may engage in the ancillary cabin related duties that are
    specifically listed below:

    a. Making foreign language announcements.

    b. Assisting with the boarding process by greeting customers in their native
    language.

    c. Assisting with meal orders.

    d. Distributing and completing international customs/immigration forms.

    e. Assisting Flight Attendants with Duty Free orders.

    f. Assisting the Purser/Lead Flight Attendant with high profile/high value
    international customers.

    g. Assisting in the distribution of foreign language marketing promotions.

    h. Assisting with general service and/or service recovery requiring special cultural
    and/or language expertise.

    i. Engaging in occasional ad hoc customer service; i.e., trash pick up, cabin
    tidying, responding to individual customer service requests, distribution of
    reading material, etc.

    j. Performing other tasks as directed by the Purser/Lead Flight Attendant.

    k. Assisting with other similar duties identified by the Company after consultation
    with the President, Teamsters Local 2000.

    Agreed to on this 1st day of June, 2000.
