LETTER OF AGREEMENT
between
NORTHWEST AIRLINES, INC.
and
FLIGHT ATTENDANTS
in the service of
NORTHWEST AIRLINES, INC.
as represented by
INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF TEAMSTERS
THIS AGREEMENT is entered into by and between Northwest Airlines, Inc., a Minnesota
Corporation (the "Company"), and the Flight Attendants in the service of Northwest
Airlines, Inc., as represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, (the
"Union").
The undersigned parties agree as follows:
1. "Foreign National" as used in this Letter of Agreement shall mean an employee of
Northwest Airlines, not a United States citizen, who performs inflight service on
designated Northwest Airlines flights, and whose name does not appear on the Flight
Attendant System Seniority list. Route segments over which Foreign Nationals may be
utilized shall be as provided in this Letter of Agreement.
2. Foreign Nationals may be assigned to all positions on all international passenger
flights to and from cities which are South and West of the most Northeast point of
Japan, and are East of 90º longitude and North of -10º (South) latitude, except as set
forth in subparagraphs a., b. and c., below.
a. At least one (1) Flight Attendant on the Northwest Airlines Flight Attendant System
Seniority List who is covered by this Agreement shall be assigned to such
passenger flights, in the Purser or Lead Flight Attendant position.
b. In addition to the Purser or Lead Flight Attendant position set forth in paragraph
2.a., above, one (1) Flight Attendant on the Northwest Airlines Flight Attendant
System Seniority List who is covered by this Agreement shall be assigned to such
passenger flights (exclusive of flights to and from Guam and to and from Saipan).
This additional Flight Attendant may bid in Company Flight Attendant seniority
order for any aircraft position except the main cabin coordinator position. This
additional position shall be transitioned in through attrition of the present Foreign
Nationals commencing on June 1, 2000, but shall be completed no later than six (6)
months following June 1, 2000, of this Agreement. The Company agrees to
provide the Union with attrition reports from June 1, 2000, to the six (6) month
deadline for the transition of these positions.
c. With respect only to such passenger flights to and from Guam and to and from
Saipan, at least two (2) Flight Attendant positions (including the Purser or Lead
Flight Attendant position) on each narrow body aircraft flight and at least seven (7)
Flight Attendant positions (including the Purser or Lead Flight Attendant position)
on each wide body aircraft flight, shall be filled by Flight Attendants covered by this
Agreement.
3. A Flight Attendant covered by this Agreement, who is assigned to the flights set forth
in paragraph 2., above, in a position other than the Purser or Lead Flight Attendant
position shall, along with the Foreign National Flight Attendants, bid their aircraft
cabin positions in accordance with Company Flight Attendant seniority.
