    LETTER 23
    Subject: Maintaining Purser Qualifications
    Reference: Section 9 - Purser
    LETTER OF AGREEMENT
    between
    NORTHWEST AIRLINES, INC.
    and
    FLIGHT ATTENDANTS
    in the service of
    NORTHWEST AIRLINES, INC.
    as represented by
ASSOCIATION OF FLIGHT ATTENDANTS - CWA, AFL-CIO

THIS AGREEMENT is entered into by and between Northwest Airlines, Inc., a Minnesota
Corporation (the "Employer"), and the Flight Attendants in the service of Northwest
Airlines, Inc., as represented by the Association of Flight Attendants - CWA,
    AFL-CIO (the "Union").
    A. The undersigned parties agree as follows:
Section 9.D.4.c. of this Agreement indicates that in order to maintain his/her Purser
qualifications a Flight Attendant must maintain a record free from any formal discipline
related to job performance, conduct or safety and a satisfactory record of attendance
and dependability. Under the Company's current Performance Development Program
and for purposes of maintaining Purser qualifications, this means that a Purser
qualified Flight Attendant who incurs any of the following, shall not be considered as
    having maintained his/her qualifications.
    1. In the categories of Performance, Conduct or Safety, incurs any formal discipline,
i.e., a Level I, Level II, Decision Making Leave (DML) or Last Chance Agreement
    (LCA), or,
    2. In the category of Dependability or Attendance, progresses to a Level II or higher
    degree of formal discipline.
If the "Employer" modifies the existing Performance Development Program, it shall
meet and confer with the "Union" to determine the appropriate application to
qualification maintenance for the Purser Position.
    B. The parties further agree to the following:
    1. A Purser who fails to maintain his/her qualifications as a result of the
formal discipline listed in subparagraphs A.1. or A.2., above, shall have
his/her Purser qualifications reinstated, upon his/her request, at such
time as the discipline has expired and there are no other such listed
    documents active in his/her file.
    2. Paragraph B.1., above, shall be applied retroactively to any Purser who
has failed to maintain his/her qualifications who has not been
previously afforded an opportunity to have his/her qualifications
    reinstated.
Agreed to on this 18th day of June, 2007
